Webinar "Quality data for Quality SDGs"

October 18, 2021 | Other Activities

The Central Statistics Agency of Lampung Province held a webinar in a series of commemoration of National Statistics Day (HSN) related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) virtually on Tuesday, October 18, 2021. The webinar was themed “Quality data for Quality Lampung SDGs”.

This SDGs webinar presents the expert staff of the Minister of National Development Planning for Social Affairs and Poverty Reduction as Head of the National Secretariat of TPB/SDGs of Bappenas, Dr. Vivi Yulaswati, M.Sc., Director of BPS Statistics Analysis and Development, Dr. Ali Said MA., Head of SDGs Center University of Lampung, Unang Mulkhan S.A.B., M.B.A., Ph.D., and moderated by Head of SDGs Center University of Bandar Lampung, Dr.Eng. Friz Akhmad Nuzir, S.T., M.A.

Head of BPS Lampung Province, Faizal Anwar in his Welcome Speech said "As for the purpose of this webinar, it is for us to remember together and learn together to explore the SDGs as universal noble ideals even though they may still be very general in nature, for BPS itself of course as part of the components of development actors must play a role in disseminating important information to the community and providing quality data for calculating SDGs indicators both at the national level and at the provincial level, especially for the Lampung province, we believe that with quality data it will certainly lead to the planning and results of the SDGs. Lampung quality so that the regional action plans have a solid foundation”

Vivi Yulaswati in her presentation said that achieving ambitious SDGs targets requires collaboration of all stakeholders (government, philanthropy, academics, and media) as well as Localizing SDGs (internalization of SDGs principles in all business processes, adaptation, implementation and monitoring progress and regional development initiatives linked within a globally sustainable development framework).

Ali Said explained that the provision of SDGs indicator data, namely 92 of the 114 national level indicators, had data available at BPS. Then there are 67 indicators at the provincial level and 27 indicators at the district/city level. However, there is a note that estimates on several indicators in the disaggregation of districts/cities still have RSE>25% so that they are not valid to be used in measuring the achievement of SDGs in a region. The process of compiling metadata is carried out with the government, philanthropy, business actors, community organizations and academics. Ali Said also said that without seriousness it will be difficult to achieve these SDGs.

Unang Mulkhan said that in assessing the monitoring capacity of the SDGs, the suggestions given included: improving the National Statistics System, strengthening infrastructure and equipment, aligning the statistical production system, and involving stakeholders.

The webinar activity is getting more interesting with various entertainments including the display of videos about SDGs, door prizes quizziz, and prizes for the best questioners.
