BPS-Statistics Lampung Province today held a socialization
of the CAWI (Computer Assisted Web Interviewing) Mode in the 2024 Monthly Large
Medium Industry Survey (IBS), Tuesday (26/3).
The activity, which was held in the Command Center Room,
Diskominfotik Lampung Province, was attended by stakeholders, namely the Head
of BPS Lampung Province, and the Head of the Lampung Province Industry and
Trade Service (Disperindag), while also virtually joining the Director of
Industrial Statistics of BPS, Head of Regency/City BPS and large-medium
industrial players in Lampung Province who are also connected online via the
Zoom Meeting communication media.
Head of BPS-Statistics Lampung Province, Atas Parlindungan
Lubis, in his speech said that the industrial sector has an important role in
Lampung's economy. In 2023, the processing industry sector will contribute
18.01 percent to Lampung's GRDP, and will become the second largest sector
after the agricultural sector.
To calculate the added value generated by the industrial
sector, BPS-Statistics requires data from companies every month. On this
occasion, BPS socialized the use of the CAWI mode for collecting IBS data.
"The CAWI mode is expected to increase the efficiency
and effectiveness of data collection," said Atas. "With this mode,
companies can fill in data independently via BPS-Statistics web entry, so that
data is sent faster, easier, and confidentiality is guaranteed."
BPS Director of Industrial Statistics, Dody Herlando, in his
speech explained the latest data and analysis regarding the economic conditions
of Indonesia and Lampung.
"Despite experiencing pressure from the export and
import side, the momentum of economic recovery in Lampung and Indonesia remains
stable," explained Dody. "In the fourth quarter of 2023, the
manufacturing sector in both regions showed positive growth, although slightly
slower than in previous quarters."
Dody also added that the data produced from data collection
on large-medium industries is macro in nature, which reflects the movement of
Lampung's economic growth.
"No need to worry," said Dody. "This data
will be processed and published in aggregate, so that it will not endanger the
confidentiality of company data."
Head of the Lampung Province Industry and Trade Service
(Disperindag), Evie Fatmawaty, also said that the data collection process would
be kept confidential.
"The macro data produced reflects the industrial growth
of Lampung Province," said Evie. "Therefore, we appeal to all large
and medium industrial players in Lampung to actively participate in this
survey."
It is hoped that this outreach activity can increase
understanding and participation of industry players in filling in IBS data via
the CAWI mode. Accurate and timely data from industry players is very important
to produce valid economic indicators to support government policies in
advancing the industrial sector in Lampung.
