BPS-Statistics Lampung Province Holds Knowledge Sharing on Data Quality Assurance (Quality Gates)

Who would have thought that behind the statistical figures we often hear, there is a very strict process to ensure their accuracy? BPS-Statistics Lampung Province held a Knowledge Sharing event on Quality Gates (QG) 2024, virtually on Friday (7/26).

The activity, which was broadcast live via Zoom Meeting, aimed to increase the understanding of all BPS-Statistics Lampung Province employees, about the importance of statistical data quality assurance, so that the statistical data produced is of higher quality and reliable.

Imagine, every time we read news about economic growth, poverty rate, or unemployment rate, we want to be sure that the data presented is really accurate. Well, this Quality Gates is a kind of 'Complete Assurance Process' used by BPS-Statistics to ensure that the data produced has passed various stages of examination and meets high quality standards.

In his remarks, the Head of BPS Lampung Province, Atas Parlindungan Lubis, reminded that the most important thing is not just to collect documents, but to ensure that the quality assurance process runs well and correctly. “Every employee, in any work unit, must be committed to producing the best work according to their abilities. The work process must be done well, correctly, in accordance with established procedures and well documented,” he added.
