BPS Evaluates SE2026 Implementation and Statistical Institutional Strengthening in South Lampung

South Lampung – Statistics Indonesia (BPS) together with Commission X of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the Evaluation of the 2026 Economic Census Implementation and the Strengthening of BPS Institutions in the Implementation of National Statistics in South Lampung Regency. This activity served as an evaluation forum for the implementation of SE2026 while strengthening synergy between BPS, local government, business actors, census officers, and stakeholders in producing accurate and quality economic data.

During the event, Dr. H. Muhammad Kadafi, S.H., M.H., stated that SE2026 is an important momentum to evaluate the economic conditions and potential of South Lampung. According to him, South Lampung has diverse economic potential, ranging from agriculture, fisheries, plantations, to tourism. The census results are expected to serve as the basis for policies capable of opening business opportunities, encouraging innovation, creating jobs, and improving public welfare.

Kadafi also highlighted the immense tourism potential of South Lampung, which drives various derivative businesses, particularly MSMEs, culinary arts, handicrafts, tour guide services, and providers of tourism-supporting venues and services. He encouraged the use of SE2026 results to develop this potential through collaboration between local government, business actors, and the community. With the land, sea, and air connectivity possessed by South Lampung, the generated economic data is expected to help the government capture development opportunities and drive regional potential into a source of community welfare.

From BPS's perspective, the Head of BPS Lampung Province emphasized that although the SE2026 data collection stage has been completed, data inspection and sweeping processes are still being carried out to ensure no business actor is missed and to correct data requiring confirmation. BPS also continues to encourage that the generated data does not stop at tables and indicators, but provides insights for planning, decision-making, and development evaluation. This FGD simultaneously serves as a momentum to strengthen institutions and synergy in the implementation of the National Statistics System so that data can become more meaningful for regional development.
