The Lampung Province Central Statistics Agency (BPS) continues to prepare to carry out the National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) in August 2024. One important step is to hold training for field officers who will be tasked with collecting data.
This training was held on 17-24 July 2024 at several TCs in districts/cities including Bandar Lampung and was attended by 557 officers. They will later be distributed to 15 districts/cities in Lampung to collect data on the 9,280 sample households.
Head of BPS Lampung Province, Atas Parlindungan Lubis, represented by the Head of the Social Statistics Team, Febiyana Qomariyah, emphasized the importance of this training to produce quality employment data. "This training is very important to improve the quality of employment data through Sakernas," he said. "Quality employment data will be the basis for formulating development policies and planning in Lampung Province."
Febi explained that Sakernas is a survey conducted periodically by BPS, especially in August, to measure employment conditions at the district/city level. Data generated from Sakernas is used to determine the unemployment rate, the state of the workforce and other employment conditions.
The training participants were provided with material about the concept and definition of Sakernas, data collection methodology, use of the CAPI (Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing) mode for collecting Sakernas data, as well as good interview and communication techniques.
With this training, it is hoped that field officers will have sufficient competence to carry out their duties properly and correctly. This is important to produce accurate and reliable employment data.
"BPS Lampung Province is committed to producing quality and trustworthy employment data," explained Febi. "With this training, we hope that field officers can carry out their duties as well as possible."
Febi also provided motivation to the training participants so that implementation in the field would run smoothly and produce accurate data.
This Sakernas Officer training is part of BPS's efforts to improve data quality and support development planning in Lampung Province. BPS hopes that employment data produced from Sakernas can provide accurate and useful information for stakeholders.
