BPS-Statistics Lampung Province Invites the Public to Get Closer to KSA Padi

July 26, 2024 | BPS Activities

Hi Data Friends, have you ever asked how BPS-Statistics can find out how much rice production in an area? Or how to calculate the area of agricultural land? Well the answer is in ASF or Area Sample Framework.

To provide a better understanding to the public about ASF, BPS-Statistics Lampung Province held the 4th series of Statistical Literacy Education Program (Peduli Statistik) online through the Zoom meeting on Friday, (25/7), as a form of service provided by BPS-Statistics Lampung Province to improve public literacy.

This time, the main focus was to introduce the Rice Sample Area Framework (ASF) to the wider community. This activity aims to provide a better understanding of how BPS obtains accurate and reliable data on rice harvest areas.

In his speech, the Head of BPS-Statistics Lampung Province, Atas Parlindungan Lubis, emphasized the importance of statistical literacy for the community. “By understanding statistics, we can better understand the meaning of the numbers that have been presented by BPS-Statistics. So that when used in data utilization, it can be more appropriate and in accordance with the meaning of the statistical data itself,” said Atas.

The Intermediate Statistician of BPS-Statistics Lampung Province, Dhyantanu Harsa, as the main resource person in the 4th series of the PEDULI program, said that ASF is a statistical method used to measure various things related to agriculture, especially on rice crop commodities such as land area, crop production, and so on. This method was developed by international organizations such as FAO, USDA, and EUROSTAT. In short, ASF is like a map or framework that is used to sample agricultural data in real time on the farms of our survey samples to be more accurate and efficient.
