Head of BPS-Statistics Lampung Province Attends High Level Meeting and Capacity Building TPID 2024

Ahead of the National Religious Holidays (HBKN) of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1445 H/2024 M, the Lampung Province TPID held a High Level Meeting (HLM) and Capacity Building of the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) today, Wednesday (21/02). 

The HLM, which was held at the Lampung Province Representative Office of Bank Indonesia, aims to strengthen synergy and collaboration between stakeholders in maintaining the stability of the inflation rate in the Lampung region.

The momentum of HBKN usually triggers an increase in community mobility and a surge in demand, especially for commodities that often experience inflation in the Ramadan and Idul Fitri periods. This is the main concern of TPID Lampung in formulating strategic steps to maintain price stability and food security.

The TPID HLM meeting was attended by various related parties, including the Governor of Lampung Province, Arinal Djunaidi, Regents of Districts/Cities in Lampung Province, BPS, and other related agencies. 

In this forum, stakeholders discussed various crucial issues related to inflation, such as: Analysis of the current inflation condition in Lampung Province, Inflation prediction ahead of HBKN and its influencing factors, Integrated inflation control strategies and measures, Strengthening synergy and collaboration between stakeholders.

Lampung Governor Arinal Djunaidi, who also opened the TPID HLM, emphasized the importance of synergy and collaboration between stakeholders in maintaining inflation stability.

"Based on the Ministry of Home Affairs Inflation Coordination Meeting some time ago, it was informed that throughout Indonesia there was a shortage of rice supply, so I ask that we prepare together by determining the anticipatory steps that need to be taken to maintain smooth distribution, price stability and availability of supplies in the community," said Arinal. 

Arinal also continued, "Distribution constraints and trade system problems have triggered the current increase in rice prices, as well as an increase in demand for rice from the Java region," continued Arinal.

Meanwhile, the Head of BPS-Statistics Lampung Province (BPS), Atas Parlindungan Lubis, explained the current inflation condition in Lampung Province and its prospects ahead of HBKN.

In his presentation, Atas said that inflation in Lampung Province in January 2024 experienced deflation of -0.19% compared to the previous month. This deflation was influenced by a decrease in prices in the Food, Beverage and Tobacco group by -0.63%.

"The commodities that most often contribute to inflation during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr over the past four years are: Rearing Chicken Eggs, Rearing Chicken Dung, Edible Oil, Red Onion, and Chili Pepper," said Atas.

He also continued, "Ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1445 H/2024 M, the commodities of Rice and Red Chili need to be a concern, because in the last year (2023) it has contributed the highest yoy inflation of 0.6096 percent, and until now these commodities have a signal of an increase including Cayenne Pepper and Broiler Chicken Eggs." said Atas.

Several important points were formulated in the TPID HLM to control inflation ahead of HBKN 2024, including:

1. The availability of basic commodities, weather alertness, readiness of transportation facilities, preparedness of health posts, and security aspects from various potential threats need to be considered ahead of the Holy Month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1445 H/2024 M.

2. The importance of controlling grain distribution to control inflation in Lampung Province, including monitoring grain availability, supervising distribution, strengthening farmers, and improving coordination with related parties.

3. Preparation for organizing Pekan Raya Lampung (PRL) 2024 as an effort to disseminate development results, promote regional potential, advance MSMEs, and develop cultural arts. 

4. Efforts should continue to be made by the Provincial and District/City TPIDs, such as enhancing cooperation in the delivery of food supplies, paying attention to weather conditions, paying attention to food balance sheets, and ensuring safe and proper transportation facilities. 

5. The importance of services in hospitals and health posts that are on standby for 24 hours, maintaining post-election order and security, providing positive information to the public, and increasing the intensity of assistance in maintaining price stability. 

All of these points show the seriousness of the Lampung Provincial Government in ensuring the availability of basic commodities, price stability, security, and the welfare of the people of Lampung ahead of the Ramadan and Idul Fitri celebrations.

With synergy and appropriate measures, it is hoped that inflation in Lampung Province can be controlled and people can welcome HBKN comfortably and calmly.
